The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources is building a coral reef by sinking concrete block into the Andaman Sea, 3,000 meters off Phuket shoreline. The artificial coral reef is intended to protect marine biodiversity in Sirinath National Park which is severely destroyed by trawl fishing.
